Special Little Girl

This chapter looked so much longer when I was typing it but oh well. Just an update because I haven't in a while :)



"Tomorrow is going to be a long day" Drake sighed, stretching his legs out on the bed and rubbed his stomach. They had just eaten dinner and the family went up to their rooms.

"I know but we're going to put a big smile on her face" 

"Since we're on that topic, are you sure we booked Brewster’s?"

"Yeah, I'm sure but I'll call them in a bit. What time is it?"

"7, why?"

"I don't know what time they close. I'll call them now" Nicki found the number for the venue on the internet and called.

"Hello? Yeah, I booked a party a few weeks ago and the party is tomorrow and I was wondering is everything in order? I booked it under the name Graham... Yes... Thank you very much, bye" Nicki hung up and cuddled back up to Drake. "Everything sorted"

"Good good"

Nicki and Drake didn't have to go to work. Nicki had no bookings for anything that day. Drake had the day off for working so hard and Mr. MadMoney knew it was Alexa's birthday. They got out of bed and quietly went to Alexa's room and shook her a bit.

"Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to Alexa! Happy birthday to you!" They sang to a now awake Alexa.

"Thank you!" She said rubbing the sleep out of her eyes. "Presents?" She eagerly said.

"Not all of them, you get them at your party" She smiled when Nicki said the word 'party' 

"You can get one of your presents from us" Drake went to get her present, it was pretty big and wrapped in loads of wrapping paper.

Alexa's eyes widened when Drake put it on the floor. "Go on and open it", Alexa pulled back her covers and plopped down on the floor in front of her present. She slowly pulled the wrapping paper off.

Nicki was getting a bit impatient at her slowness. Drake could sense it and whispered in her ear, "Let her open it by herself"

A few minutes later, Alexa finally unwrapped her present. When she realised what it was, she let out a high pitched scream and ran to hug her parents.

"Do you like it?" Nicki asked.

"Yes, it's so pretty!" Drake and Nicki got her a dream house for her dolls, she had practically been begging them to get it for her since she saw the advertising for it on tv. Afterwards the family got washed and dressed then Nicki made them a big breakfast that consisted of toast, egg, beans and turkey bacon. Once they finished eating, they spent some time together.

The family sat down to watch Alexa's favourite show before making their way to the venue of Alexa's party.

Since it was her third birthday, Nicki and Drake planned a big-ish party for her. All her friends and family was invited, it was a big celebration. They rented out Brewster bears, a children's activity centre. There was an area full of trampolines, a bear making section, a photoshoot area and mini slide, soft steps to climb, rockers and large soft bricks to build with. The other two areas are mazes of steps to climb, soft building bricks, bridges, steep spiral slides. They also provided food, drinks, party games, face painting, balloon animals and a party game. Nicki made sure Alexa went in first and when she did, everyone shouted happy birthday to her.

Alexa squealed and clapped her hands out of excitement at the decoration of the place. There were banners saying 'Happy Birthday Alexa' and a few pictures of her around. 

"Want to open your presents first or play first?" Alexa thought for a minute before making a decision.

"Presents please" Alexa smiled. The family went over to the table full of presents and Drake lifted Alexa up so she could stand on a chair to open all her presents.

She picked up the first one on the table. "Mummy, read please?" Nicki looked at the label and read it, "Happy birthday, from Uncle Jelani and family"

Alexa carefully opened it and inside was a small piano.

"Thank you!" 

Next she opened another present which was from Sandi and Dennis. The present was a mini oven and play kitchen set. "Thank you mamaw and papaw!"

After opening all of her presents, Alexa had colouring books, play dough, Lego blocks, a whole heap of cash and other toys. Through the party, everyone had a good time. Nicki was a bit worried out the slides they had, she looked around and saw Alexa waiting to get onto one.

"Are you having fun?" Alexa gave her thumbs up and a big smile as a response. Nicki smiled and watched as she sat down on the slide. "Be careful!"

Nicki was talking to Drake when one of the staff came over and tapped her on the shoulder. "Sorry to disturb you but the cake is about to be brought out"

"Okay" Nicki went to get the kids while Drake got the parents to come to one table. Once everyone was at the table, Nicki picked up Alexa and stood her up on a chair. The lights were dimmed and everyone began singing happy birthday, the chef placed the cake in front of Alexa and stood back. She had a chocolate cake with smarties around the edges with the words 'Happy Birthday Alexa' in the middle and there was a picture of Barbie in the middle. 

"Make a wish" Alexa closed her eyes and opened them and blew out all the candles, everyone clapped as she did. The cake was cut and everyone was given a slice. Their food was brought out shortly afterwards, the children were not allowed to eat their cake first. After eating, the kids went to play and the adults stayed in the main area. As the adults were talking, Nicki had a flashback of when she gave birth to Alexa.

March 7th, 4 years before

"Aubrey!" Nicki shook Drake awake. "Aubrey!" 

"Huh?" Drake mumbled.

"My water just broke, she's coming!” 

"Shit!" Drake quickly sat up in bed and looked over at her "Are you okay?"

"No" She whimpered. Drake hopped out of bed and quickly put on some clothes. After, he grabbed some new pants for Nicki and helped her put it on. He grabbed the hospital bag and put it on his shoulder then he helped Nicki downstairs and into the car. When they got the hospital, Nicki was immediately rushed to the labour and delivery unit and hooked up to some machines. Drake called his parents and Nicki's parents telling them what was happening. They turned up an hour later with a few other members of the family.

"I FUCKING HATE YOU!" Nicki screamed as she felt a contraction. Drake tried to stay cool but the anticipation for the birth of his daughter was killing him. Nicki was in labour for 8 hours before the doctors decided it was finally time for her to push.

"You're fully dilated, ready to push?"

"Yes!" Nicki said breathing through another contraction. The next contraction Nicki felt she squeezed the life out of his hand and pushed as hard as she could.

"You are doing great. I can see her head" As Nicki continued to push, she was screaming and swearing uncontrollably. Drake watched in delight as he saw his daughter finally entering the world.

"It's a girl!"

Doctor Johnson pulled their baby girl out and handed her over to the nurse so she could get cleaned up. Drake leaned down and softly kissed her.

"I love you" He said and Nicki said it back. The nurse handed Alexa back and she was wrapped in a blanket.

"Hello beautiful little ladybug, I'm your mummy" Nicki tearfully said and placed her finger in the palm of Alexa's hand and unknowingly Alexa gripped onto it.

A few minutes later, Drake reached down and carefully took his daughter out of Nicki's hands. "You look just like your mummy, I see you have my eyes. All the boys are going to come to the yard but I won't let 'em"

Nicki laughed and watched him in awe. 

"You can go and tell everyone" Drake went out the room and went to the waiting room where their parents were waiting. 

"She's here!" He announced. Everyone congratulated him then Sandi, Dennis, Carol and Dennis followed behind him and visited the baby and sent their wishes to the new family. The nurse came in and told them that visiting hours were over. They left after saying goodbye.

"I see you're all settled so do you have a name for the little one?" Her midwife Kirsty asked.

"Yes, Alexa"

"Is she going to have a middle name?"

"What about Mae?"

"I like it" Nicki smiled.

"So her name is Alexa Mae Graham?"

"Yes" Nicki and Drake looked down smiling at their daughter.

Sandi snapped her fingers in Nicki's face bringing her focus back to reality. "Onika, did you hear what we were saying"

"Huh? No, sorry"

"We were saying that... Actually it doesn't matter" Nicki shrugged it off.

They continued talking until Drake excused himself and went to get the children so they could eat something.  Around 5pm, some of Alexa's friends and parents started to leave.

"Bye, thank you for inviting me" Kayla said and gave Alexa a hug. A few of her other friends did the same thing and the others were too tired. The party ended at 6 as Alexa was ready to go home. Nicki and Drake were ready to go home too, it had been a long day.

"I should have said this earlier but I want to thank everyone for coming even though some people have gone home. We're going to have to call it a night y'all, birthday girl wants to go home" Nicki announced. Everyone understood and started to leave.

"Did you have fun, Lexiekins?" Nicki asked.

"Yes, lots and lots" Alexa exclaimed.

"What about you, Mr. Graham?" Nicki said quickly glancing over at Drake.

"A little bit but I was hoping to have more fun later" Drake winked.

Nicki shook her head at her and continued driving home. She felt good knowing that everyone had a good time and she herself did too.
