Typical Day

Drake woke up to his alarm beeping loudly. He rolled over to turn it off and rolled back landing on his back. Eventually Drake got out of bed and went to do his daily morning routine: brush his teeth, have a hot shower, get dressed, put on some cologne and go to wake up Alexa.

"Alexa" Drake said shaking her. She mumbled and swatted him away. Just like her mother.

"Come on, you have to go to school" Alexa finally woke up and made Drake carry her to the bathroom.

"Daddy, I'm tired" 

"I know 'Lexa, I know" Drake put her down and she climbed up on the stool to brush her teeth. Afterwards, he got her washed and dressed.

During this time, Nicki had woke up and got ready for work. She went downstairs to make breakfast. Some toast for her and Drake and a bowl of cereal for Alexa. As she was pouring the milk into the bowl, Drake and Alexa came downstairs. Alexa went to sit around the table while Drake went to the kitchen, he kissed Nicki good morning and grabbed the plate of toast and Alexa's bowl of cereal and brought them out to the table. Nicki then made two cups of coffee. After making the coffee, she filled a cup with apple juice. 

"Drake, come get the coffee please" Drake did as he was told. Nicki followed behind him with Alexa's drink. Finally they all sat down to eat their breakfast. Drake started work early on a Monday so he quickly eat his toast and drank his coffee. He brought his plate and cup to the kitchen and ran to get his bag.

"Bye baby" He said kissing Nicki.

"I'll see when I finish work" He gently kissed Alexa's cheek and disappeared out the door.

A few minutes later, Nicki glanced up at the clock and noticed the time.

"Are you finishing pumpkin?"

"Yes" Nicki took her plate and Alexa's bowl to the kitchen then came back to get the cups.

"Go and get your backpack and make sure everything you need is in there, okay?" Alexa followed her mother's order and went to her room. Nicki quickly washed up the dishes and went to get her bag from the living room.

"Ready?" Nicki shouted.

"Yes, coming mummy!" Alexa zipped up her bag and ran down the stairs and they hurried out the house. Nicki and Drake wanted the best education possible for their daughter so Alexa went to a private kindergarten. 20 minutes later, they pulled up at Alexa's school.

"And we're here" Nicki said as she parked up. She got out the car and went around getting Alexa out. After Nicki locked the car and walked Alexa to kindergarten.

"Mummy will see you later okay?" Nicki crouched down and gave her a hug.

"Okay" Nicki released Alexa from the hug and went to leave. 

"Bye" Alexa waved and Nicki waved back as she walked to her car. Nicki pulled out of the school car park and drove to the studio. When she arrived, she was immediately greeted by her work team. Nicki worked as a petite model, she was well known for her creative poses. She actually wanted to be a doctor but the process was very long, after creating a portfolio and submitting it, she got signed to one of the best modelling agencies. She mainly worked as an in-house model, modelling for forever 21 and Macy's. She worked five days a week normally depending on her schedule.

"Good morning" Nicki smiled.

"Morning, so you know the deal. Head straight to hair and makeup" The photographer Paul told her. 

"Then Leon will come and bring up so you can get changed"

Today she was shooting ads for a clothing company. Nicki was supposed to look as natural as possible so her make-up was keep very simple: just foundation, lipgloss, mascara and a few individual fake eyelashes to make hers seem longer. She had to pose with over 10 outfits.

"They want some natural poses so just be yourself but still act like your modelling the clothes" After the few poses the photographer was impressed.

"That's what I wanted!" He took a few more shots.

"Alright, stop. Harper, bring the chair in" Nicki raised an eyebrow at him. "They want a few poses of you sat down"

Harper put the chair down where Paul wanted it. Nicki took photos of her sat in a range of different ways.

"Can I stand on it or something?" She asked.

"Yeah, yeah" Nicki stood on it and squatted down. She turned to the side showing her side profile.

"That is perfect, a few more like that and we can call it a wrap"

Drake was working hard at work. He worked as one of the accountants to Christopher MadMoney, Christopher MadMoney was a huge businessman and ran the #2 biggest company in America. Christopher had 5 assistants since he was a very busy man but overall Drake was his main one. Drake was paid a lot for working for him. While running a few errands, he remembered what Nicki had told him previously. After finishing what he was supposed to, Drake went to Christopher's office. He knocked twice.

"Come in" Drake opened the door and walked in. "Ah, Graham"

"Hello, I have to ask you something"

"Oh, take a seat" Drake sat down in one of the two seats in front of his desk.

"So what is it, Graham?" Christopher MadMoney always addressed you by your surname.

"You see, I've had a lot of paperwork to do and it's kind of stressing me out" Drake looked slightly nervous afraid he might have said something wrong. "I was wondering if you could spread out the time when I get paperwork and taxes to sort out so I would not have so much to do within a week"

Christopher stayed quiet for a while and fiddled with his fingers. "I see what you're saying, what about I give you none at all?"

"Really?"

"Yes! I'll shorten your hours too, what about no hours at all?"

"What?"

"You're fired, Graham!" Drake got up and walked out the office.

...

"Graham, Graham! Have you been listening to me?" Drake snapped out of his thoughts.

"No, sorry"

He shook his head before continuing "I've decided to give you less paperwork and give the rest of it to Tom. He thinks I don't see his sneaky way but I do." Drake chuckled. "You are free to go"

It was 2:30pm and Drake was ready to go home. He left work and stopped at Starbucks on his way to get a Caramel Macchiato. He drank it while he drove. When Drake arrived he was five minutes early so he waited, as soon as the bell rang Drake hopped out the car and went to the kindergarten.

"Oh hello"

"Hi" Drake looked around and spotted Alexa talking to her remaining friends who hadn't been picked up yet on the reading carpet.

"Alexa, your daddy's here!" Alexa heard her name being said and ran to her father.

"Daddy!" She squealed hugging her father's leg.

"Go and get your bag so we can go home" Drake watched as she ran off. "So how is she doing?"

"She is making great progress, she is very smart. And her reading and speaking skills are getting better and better"

"That's great" Drake smiled and Alexa came back with her backpack. Alexa waved goodbye and they went to the car to drive home. 

"So what did you do in school?"

"I read a book and played what time is it Mr. Wolf and," Alexa told Drake about her day with so much pep in her voice. Drake was so interested in what she was saying, she was like in Nicki in the way she spoke. The hand gestures, the change in pitch, reminded him of the times when he was little and him and Nicki would talk about what they have done that day.

"I wish you came to school today Aubbie, you missed a lot" Nicki sat down on Drake's car shaped bed.

"Like what?" He sniffled and wiped his nose with a tissue.

"Lauren was eating her sandwich and Wayne took her sandwich and ate it so at nap time, she got some water and poured it on his pants and when he woke up everyone laughed at him and he started crying and peed on the floor and,"

Drake zoned out halfway through, the story didn't interest him. He was just happy his best friend in the whole wide world in his words was here talking to him. He stared at her dreamily as she finished off the story.

Too caught up in his little little flashback, he was unaware that he had arrived home and was parked in the garage.

"Daddy!" Alexa shouted getting his attention. Drake turned off the engine and got out the car. He opened the back seat door and unbuckled her from her seat. He picked her up and placed her on the floor. As he locked the car and shut the garage door, Alexa had walked towards the door that leads to the house. He opened the door for her and she ran through the back room which was like the extra living room to the hallway and went up the stairs to her to get changed. Since she started school, she was always told to change out of her uniform when she got home so that is what she did every school day.

Drake made sure he locked the door behind him before he went to upstairs to do the same. After he went to check on Alexa.

"Are you hungry?" He asked, Alexa was playing with her dolls.

"No"

"Do you have any homework?"

"No daddy"

"Are you sure?"

"Yes" Drake accepted her answer and went to his bedroom. Just as he was about to turn on the TV, his phone rang. Without looking at who was calling him, he answered the call.

"Hello?"

Nicki's voice boomed through his phone. "Hi baby" 

"Oh I didn't know it was you, you okay?"

"Yeah I'm fine, I have to work all day today and I didn't know so I just thought I'd tell you. I should be home around 5"

"Alright, go on and work hard. I love you"

"I love you too, bye"

"Bye" Drake ended the call.

"I'm homeeeeeeeeeeee" Nicki sang as she closed the front door. She heard loud footsteps then Alexa appeared on top of the stairs. 

"Mummy!" Alexa sat down and slide from the top of the stairs to the bottom. She then ran to Nicki who was ready to pick her up.

"Hello Lexiebear" Nicki rarely called Alexa by her name, it was always Lexie but when she did call her Alexa it was because she did something wrong. They had little conversation before Nicki asked, "Where's daddy?" and Alexa shrugged. Just as she was about to shout his name, Drake walked down the stairs. He walked over to her and pecked her lips. As he pulled away, he heard Alexa mumble something. Drake looked at her and she had her hands over her eyes.

"You can look now" Drake laughed and Alexa moved her hands from her face. Nicki finally put Alexa down.

"Have you eaten anything while you've been home?" She asked Drake.

"Just a packet of potato chips"

"If you were hungry, you don't have to wait for me to come home. You know how to cook"

"We were not hungry but I kind of am now" 

"I really can't be bothered to cook, what about we go out for dinner?"

"We haven't done that for a while" 

"Let me get changed and you need to change too then we can go. Lexie watch some TV and we'll be right back" Nicki walked off and walked up the stairs to her bedroom. She walked through the room and went to her walk-in wardrobe that her and drake shared. After choosing an appropriate outfit, a casual long sleeve dress and a simple pair of heels. Nicki got dressed and grabbed one of her many bags. She grabbed some of her stuff from the bag she used earlier such as her purse, makeup bag and other bits and bobs. While she did that, Drake changed his baggy jeans to some straight ones and his shirt to a polo shirt.

"Ready to go?" Nicki asked when she finally finished. Drake nodded and they made their way back downstairs. 

"Come on Alexa" The family locked up the house and got into Drake's car since Nicki didn't want to drive.

"I can't remember the last time I had shrimp scampi that lived up to my standards" Nicki said opening the door and let Drake carry a sleeping Alexa past her. It was just past 7pm which was Alexa's bedtime. She locked the door back after they walked in. She turned off all the lights on her way upstairs. 

"That was nice meal we had" Drake whispered careful not to wake their daughter.

"I know" She whispered back. 

Drake tried to open Alexa's bedroom door but failed. Nicki laughed to herself before she opened it for him. She went to grab Alexa some pyjamas out her draw, Drake held Alexa up as Nicki changed her out of her casual clothes into her nightwear. After successfully doing that, she pulled back the covers and he put Alexa down. Nicki pulled the covers back over her.

"Aww look at her" Nicki stood next to Drake and rested her head on his chest.

"I know, our daughter" Drake smiled. They watched their daughter sleep peacefully for a bit before they decided to go to their bedroom.

"Night princess" Drake said turning off her bedroom light and slowly closing her door.
